The history of Oklahoma is told by a series of books, libraries and artifacts. To expand your education, the Oklahoma Hall of Fame Museum is here to broaden your perspective.

The Oklahoma Hall of Fame Museum was founded in 1927. The museum was created to honor extraordinary Oklahomans and to provide educational programming for students of all ages.

Oklahoma Hall of Famers are nominated and inducted every year. Below are current exhibits at the Oklahoma Hall of Fame Museum.

Oklahoma Hall of Fame Gallery

The Oklahoma Hall of Fame Gallery is the centerpiece of the museum. Here, you will see an immaculate display of Oklahoma Hall of Fame members filled with images, videos, biographical information and defining accomplishments. The space is combined with a mix of objects, collectibles and memorabilia. We can’t forget to mention the museum’s interactive offerings, especially their intuitive Legacy Map to further guide visitors around the museum with an immersive experience in the lives of our state’s pioneers.

Green Country: From Lenapah to Prague (Rotating/Virtual exhibit)

Green Country will take you on a journey through the deep Oklahoma prairies to big city lights. This exhibit highlights 18 Oklahoma Hall of Fame inductees from the 18-county region in northeast Oklahoma, all of whom exemplify greatness to instill the will and transformation of Oklahoma. Visitors will be inspired by the stories and contributions.

Quitting is Not an Option: The Remarkable Life of Wayman Lawrence Tisdale (Rotating/Virtual exhibit)

The life of Wayman Tisdale is an unforgettable tale of character, success, obstacles and perseverance. Tisdale was a Tulsa native widely known and gifted in basketball. His achievements on the court were exceptional – a three-time All-American at the University of Oklahoma, an Oklahoma Sports Hall of Famer in 2002, National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Famer and Oklahoma Hall of Famer in 2009. His passion off the basketball court was music, becoming a star bass guitarist after retirement. Tisdale was diagnosed with cancer in 2007, resulting in losing his leg. During challenging times, Tisdale’s optimism remained in hopes that the cancer would slow and subside. Even after Wayman Tisdale’s passing in 2009, the Oklahoma Hall of Fame Museum continues to honor his life and legacy. The mantra and lessons taught by Wayman Tisdale remain relevant today – stand tall, pivot and never quit.

Makerspace

Makerspace is an activity-driven area for children and students to learn and interact through STEAM-based (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) exercises and modules. The wall-to-wall murals and classroom setting make the learning journey fun and exciting – a perfect space for an extracurricular activity or field trip gathering.

"This is Oklahoma" Podcast

The Oklahoma Hall of Fame Museum has partnered with the “This is Oklahoma” podcast. Mike Hearne, the podcast's host, interviews fellow Oklahomans making an impact in our communities and state. The Greater Oklahoma City Chamber’s own, Tammy Fate, director of retail development and recruitment, was featured in an episode of the podcast last year.
