TEDxYouth event comes to OKC April 27
TEDxYouth@OKC is the first fully youth-operated TEDx event to come to Oklahoma. It will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 10AM until 4PM on at the Meinders School of Business on the campus of Oklahoma City University.
The TEDxYouthOKC team is comprised of passionate student volunteers from across the state working together to promote the spread of important ideas and conversations by providing a platform to high school students in Oklahoma that encourages them to live their best lives.
“I’m excited to announce that our TEDx Youth event will feature 20 speakers representing 17 different Oklahoma high schools. We will address topics such as education, mental health, personal development, and wellness,” said Delaney Barghols, TEDx licensee and lead organizer. “The event will also include a variety of workshops addressing these same topics.”
Tickets are now on sale. A link can be found on our website at www.TEDxYouthOKC.com. For more information, visit www.TEDxYouthOKC.com, Facebook [@tedxyouth.okc], Twitter [@tedxyouthokc] and Instagram [@tedxyouth.okc].
What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxYouth@OKC, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxYouth@OKC event, TED Talks and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
This independent TEDx event is operated under license from TED granted to Delaney Barghols, a junior attending Crossing Christian School. Ms. Barghols has cultivated an executive team of volunteers who represent a variety of schools including Classen School of Advanced Studies, El Reno, Miami, Mustang, Noble, Prague, Westmoore, and Yukon.
