Unleash your inner cowboy at Stockyards Stampede

Buckle up your boots and dust off your cowboy hats for the annual Stockyards Stampede. The event, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 21, invites one and all to Stockyards City for a day filled with exciting events, delicious foods and unforgettable moments.
Longhorns and Chuck Wagons
The festivities kick off at 10 a.m. with the majestic Slash O' Ranch Longhorns parading down the streets of historic Stockyards City. They’ll start their journey under the iconic Oklahoma National Stockyards archway on Exchange and make their way to the National Saddlery Arena where they will stay until 2 p.m.
For a glimpse into a cowboy’s historic cooking techniques, check out the authentic Chuck Wagon camp offering live demonstrations. By noon, the air will be filled with the aroma of freshly baked cobbler, hearty stews and golden cornbread, allowing visitors to savor the flavors of the Old West.
Live music, entertainment and kids activities
Don’t forget to check out the live music as “The Corral,” Stockyard City’s brand-new outdoor venue located at the intersection of Exchange Avenue and Young’s Boulevard. Throughout the day, several talented entertainers will take the stage including Tanner Fields, the Dalbys and Jay Steagall and the Part-Timers. Plus, the Little Miss and Mr. Stockyards City pageant starts at noon.
The Kids Corral, located next to the National Saddlery Arena, promises hours of fun for kids of all ages. The activities include pony rides, a petting zoo, games, agricultural demonstrations, dummy roping, corn hole and soft pastel artboards. The Kids Corral will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Watch art unfold before your eyes
This year’s Stockyards Stampede will also be infused with artistic creativity. Local plein air painters will be strategically placed in different spots to capture the essence of the Stampede through vibrant colors and skillful strokes. The French term "en plein air," refers to artists painting outdoors while immersed in the natural surroundings.
Don’t miss the big beef showdown
Finally, an event at Stockyards City wouldn’t be complete without a bevy of beef to admire. Beef producers from across the state will compete for the coveted title of Oklahoma’s Best Beef. The Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Foundation is hosting the cookoff at The Corral starting at 11:00. The awards will be presented at 4 p.m.
Discover Stockyards City
Beyond the exciting events, Stockyards Stampede offers a chance to explore the charm of Stockyards City. Take a stroll through the historic streets, visit the unique shops and relish the flavors of the local restaurants. Capture moments that can only be found in this iconic part of Oklahoma.
