Where to watch the OKC Memorial Marathon — and how to make the most of race day

Lifestyle / April 14, 2026

The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon is coming up, and you don't have to run a step to be part of it.

Spectators are a core part of the race experience. Their energy keeps runners moving through 26.2 miles of city streets. Whether you're tracking a friend, bringing the family or just want to soak in one of OKC's biggest days of the year, here's where to be.

Start downtown, then move

The race begins in front of the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum, winds through Bricktown and past the State Capitol before spreading into northeast OKC and some of the city's most historic neighborhoods. Bricktown is an easy first stop. Crowds are thick, the energy is high, and coffee is nearby.

From there, the course opens up into neighborhoods where the real cheering happens. Crown Heights, known along the route for Gorilla Hill and Irish Alley, has built a reputation for creative signs and loud crowds. Lakehurst, which joined the course in 2021, has quickly become a fan favorite for both runners and spectators.

Don't skip mile 20

If you only pick one spot on the back half of the course, make it Classen Boulevard between 63rd and 50th. That stretch includes the 20-mile mark, the point where marathoners need support most. A loud crowd there can make a real difference.

From Classen, the course moves through Historic Mesta Park and Heritage Hills before the final push to the finish.

End at Scissortail

The Finish Line Festival at Scissortail Park is where the day wraps up. Food, music and a crowd ready to celebrate. Every finisher crosses to a bronze medal and cheers from the crowd. It's worth being there.

Road closures start early

Roads along the first mile of the course close at 4:30 a.m. All other route roads close by 7:15 a.m. Plan ahead. Parking near the course fills quickly on race morning.

Can't make it out? The Memorial Marathon app offers real-time runner tracking, so you can follow along from wherever you are.
