Communication Federal Credit Union breaks ground on new Edmond area branch

Communication Federal Credit Union broke ground June 17 on a new branch at 16209 Ironstone Drive, near Portland Avenue and NW 164th Street. The location will serve members in the Deer Creek and Edmond areas.
Headquartered in Oklahoma City, the credit union was founded in 1939 and serves more than 130,000 members. It holds more than $2 billion in assets and operates 22 branches in Oklahoma and Kansas.
Larry Shropshire, president and CEO, said the new site along Highway 74 will improve service for members and expand access to more residents in north Oklahoma City.
“We’re excited about the new branch in the Deer Creek area because the location we’ve chosen along Highway 74 will enable us to better serve the financial needs of our existing members and provide convenient services to reach more people in Deer Creek, Edmond and Oklahoma City,” Shropshire said. “Communication Federal Credit Union prides itself on being a part of the neighborhoods where we have branches. Our business is taking care of people by going beyond just serving their financial needs.”
The branch will feature a multi-lane drive-thru, drive-up ATM, safe deposit boxes and a layout designed to support in-person and digital banking. The credit union expects to open the branch in early 2026.
The McKinney Partnership of Norman is the architect. Miller-Tippens Construction of OKC is the general contractor.
