Cory’s celebrates 70th anniversary with rebrand to showcase wide range of services

Cory’s, an Oklahoma City staple in audiovisual services, will commemorate 70 years of excellence next month by launching a rebrand that better showcases its wide range of offerings.

The late Joseph F. Cory, grandfather of current CEO Brad Poarch, started the business in 1953 as a film projector and sound rental company. The company evolved with each generation. Joseph A. Cory, the second-generation owner and Poarch’s uncle, played a pivotal role in expanding services to become a crucial part of the event space in Oklahoma. The baton then passed to Poarch and his cousin John Cory, marking the beginning of large-scale event production, installations and a focus on addressing AV-related challenges.

In the realm of AV service companies, Cory's has a unique evolution, as Poarch points out, "We wouldn’t be a very good technology-based company without evolution, that’s for sure.”

The major evolutions for Cory’s have been centered around a client’s needs in their growth process.

Many clients have remained loyal for decades, requiring Cory’s to evolve to their technological needs and teams as they grow and change. Uniquely, Cory’s has gone through evolution through generations by growing two somewhat unrelated service lines in “temporary use” AV services like live events and rentals paired with the “permanent use” services including installed, integrated technology with a service team to support those systems.

The decision to rebrand stems from a desire to highlight the scope of AV services offered beyond what the current brand reflects.

"Many people know us for two things -- good customer service and quality work. What businesses do not know is the wide range of AV-related services we offer. Expect to see Cory’s change visually with vibrant colors and friendly vibes," said Poarch.

This rebranding, set to launch in January, is not just a visual makeover but a strategic move to align the brand with the innovative, friendly and multifaceted experience clients have with the Cory's team.

“Our team can’t wait for Oklahoma businesses to see it,” said Poarch.

Cory’s previous logo was a mockup of Poarch’s grandfather’s signature, offering a nostalgic tie to the brand’s long legacy. However, Poarch said that clients wished the brand matched that special friendly, innovative and fun experience with the team.

As the company approaches its 70th year, the celebration is not just a reflection on the past but a bold step into the future.

"It gives me great pride that this company is one of our family’s legacy,” said Poarch. “It gives me equal pride to see the 'family' that this company is to each other every day. I think our grandfather would be proud of the way our team seeks growth and change all while holding on to what’s important—each other and our clients."

Cory's is a dynamic community entity that has evolved through the decades, staying true to its core values while embracing innovation. The rebranding and 70th-anniversary celebration are symbolic of a company that not only honors its past but is ready and eager for the next chapter in its storied history.
