Extreme Racing for Charity returns to Remington Park on April 24

Extreme Racing for Charity returns to Remington Park bringing camels, pigs, Clydesdales, ostriches and zebras to Remington Park Sunday, April 24 for an afternoon of unusual experiences and the chance for metro area families to help raise money for nonprofit organizations across Oklahoma. After a two-year hiatus, these extreme animals will race down the homestretch in between live American Quarter Horse races.

“A fun and entertainment-filled day, Extreme Racing is one of our most popular events of the season at Remington Park,” said Matt Vance, executive vice president of racing at Remington Park. “The event offers something for all ages as it generates awareness of and support for integral nonprofit organizations that serve people in our community.”

During the event, Remington Park jockeys ride Clydesdales, zebras, ostriches and camels. Nonprofits will be represented by one of the Extreme Racing animals. The winning organization will receive a sought-after “Extreme Racing Trophy” and official photo in the winner’s circle. $3,000 in prize money will be split between the nonprofit organizations participating.

A full slate of live Quarter Horse racing begins at 4 p.m. with Extreme Racing taking place after Races 1, 2, 4 and 6. The ever-popular 100-yard match race from the Express Ranch Clydesdales will take place after Race 1, Zebras run after Race 2, Ostriches are after Race 4 and camels get their turn after Race 6. Flying Pig races will also take place on Sunday on their own track, located just north of the Plaza. Guests will have the opportunity to see all the extreme animals up close at the Remington Park Plaza.

In addition to Quarter Horse and Extreme Racing, families can also enjoy food trucks and face painting. Visitors can learn more about the charities and provide support by visiting booths and purchasing food and novelty items. Partner charities for Extreme Racing include:

“Extreme Racing is a great way for new racing fans to spend a day at Remington Park,” said Vance. “In just one day, people can see the fastest athletes in the nation, support Oklahoma charities through cheering on extreme animal races, experience great entertainment and on-site dining options. It is a day well-spent.”

There is no cost to attend Extreme Racing, and admission and parking always are free at Remington Park. Extreme Racing is sponsored by the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association.
