Lynn Community Impact expands access to fresh food in OKC

Greater Oklahoma City Chamber member Lynn Institute has rebranded as Lynn Community Impact, reflecting its growing focus on hands-on initiatives that connect Oklahomans with resources and educational opportunities. 

One of the nonprofit's largest initiatives is the Expand Energy Garden, which produces and donates more than 15,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables annually to five food distribution sites across Oklahoma City. The garden helps expand access to nutritious food for residents in lower-income neighborhoods and areas where fresh produce is less readily available. 

The garden also provides hands-on learning opportunities for teens involved in the juvenile justice system. With support from an Arnall Foundation grant, participants learn gardening and basic cooking skills while building relationships through shared activities. 

The organization is expanding its community gardening efforts through a partnership with Crossroads Renewal Project and Santa Fe Charter Schools. Plans for a multimillion-dollar garden and learning space include a teaching lab, demonstration kitchen and production garden, offering agricultural education and entrepreneurship opportunities for students and residents. 

The rebrand comes as Lisa Buck, who was named president and CEO in June, leads the organization into its next chapter. Lynn Community Impact will celebrate its new identity and ongoing community work at the sixth annual Lynn Legacy Event on Oct. 29.
