McGee named association Board President

By Staff Reports / PRESENTED BY Precision Vision of Edmond / Member News / April 25, 2019

Selina McGee, OD, FAAO has been named board president for the 2019-2020 fiscal year by the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians.  McGee is a passionate advocate for independent optometry and provides Oklahomans with the highest quality of vision care. These will be core to her focus as the incoming association President.

McGee, a Partner-level member of the Greater OKC Chamber, began her career as a Doctor of Optometry in 2002. Graduating summa cum laude at Northeastern State University College of Optometry, McGee gained valuable experience working with cornea, retina, glaucoma and neuro specialists at the Dean McGee Eye Institute.

In 2006, McGee co-founded McGee, Pickard, and Robinson Eye Associates in Midwest City where she actively treated patients with severe dry eye conditions as well as corneal diseases requiring specialty contact lenses called scleral lenses.

In 2013, McGee launched Precision Vision of Edmond. McGee has grown her practice by providing a consistently high level of service, complimented by advanced medical technology.  Patient education is a top priority and a differentiator frequently complimented in patient reviews.

McGee joined the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber in 2014 as an Advisor-level member. “As my role with OAOP increased, I really wanted to gain an understanding of the issues and opportunities in Oklahoma City.  Joining the advisory board allowed me to do that very quickly.” said Dr. McGee.

“Industry advocacy will be a big part of my new role in the Association. To prepare for that, I also joined the OKC Chamber government relations committee where I was able to learn and contribute to the conversation about SQ 793.” McGee added.

McGee’s focus on quality optometric care begins in her own practice where she has specialized in treating patients with severe dry eye syndrome as well as patients with corneal conditions like keratoconus. Her expertise in these areas attracts patients from across Oklahoma and neighboring states.

In addition to helping patients, McGee shares her knowledge with professional colleagues around the globe. McGee recognizes there are more patients than she can help personally, so the next best option is to help her colleagues acquire the knowledge and skills needed to treat those patients.

Beyond the practice of optometry, McGee is also recognized for her business acumen. McGee’s passion for quality extends to every element of her business, from hiring to training and back office operations.  She embraces input from peer groups, outside consultants, her team, and her patients. The secret is knowing which insight to apply. While she can measure her success in many ways, the one that matters most to her is making a difference for her patients as well as being an educational resource for her community.
