New bilingual Oklahoma City school opens enrollment
Western Gateway Elementary School faculty and staff
Western Gateway Elementary School, Oklahoma City’s first bilingual and cross-cultural school, is ready to enroll students for the 2021-2022 academic year.
Western Gateway will educate pre-K through 1st grade students for its first year of operation. The school will add a grade level each year of operation until 4th grade.
Western Gateway will serve the neighborhoods of College Hill, Higgins Heights, Jones Grove, Wheeler District and Will Rogers Courts. There are 200 spots available.
Head of School Heather Zacarias looks forward to welcoming Western Gateway’s inaugural class.
"We can't wait to meet the families and students, and start building a community at Western Gateway," said Zacarias. "Our unique model gives us the opportunity to truly celebrate other languages and cultures."
The first school of its kind in Oklahoma City, Western Gateway Elementary will offer a unique bilingual learning experience to students. Parents can choose two curriculum paths for their students: one is a dual-language immersion experience in English and Spanish. The other path is single-language instruction in English and still follows the school’s exploratory approach to education.
