Oklahoma City Thunder and Devon Energy partner on new community court

Chamber members, Oklahoma City Thunder and Devon Energy will partner to present a new community basketball court as part of the Lower Scissortail Park opening.
The new court dedication will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, September 23. It will be the 30th court dedicated to the Oklahoma community by the Thunder, the fourth alongside Devon Energy.
The entirety of the 32-acre lower portion of Scissortail Park is set to open the same day. This phase will include new gardens, a Nature Play Area, and several courts and fields to play basketball, soccer, futsal, and pickleball. The opening weekend will feature several events to celebrate downtown’s newest addition.
“From the original MAPS projects to a globally recognized NBA franchise, and now a world-class park with engaging experiences, Oklahoma City continues to impress longtime residents and draw visitors from across the world,” Oklahoma City Thunder Vice President of Community Engagement, Christine Berney said.
“As we’ve witnessed the development of this amazing community space right next to the House of Thunder at Paycom Center, it was a natural fit for us to make this the home of our 30th community court.”
The public dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony of the uniquely designed court will include experiences typical of a Thunder game with appearances by Rumble the Bison, Thunder Girls, O’City Crew dance team, and Thunder Drummers.
Following the ceremony, Thunder Youth Basketball coaches will host basketball skills stations on the new court with kids in attendance. Kids can also select a book from the Rolling Thunder Book Bus.

Oklahoma City Thunder players pass out gifts to the Oklahoma City community.
Oklahoma City Thunder players were seen on the north side of the city, recently, giving away gift cards and 2022-23 game tickets to lucky Love’s customers.
Josh Giddey, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, Jaylin Williams, and Tre Mann stopped by the Love’s Travel Stop & Country Store near North Pennsylvania Avenue and West Hefner Road. The players passed out $25 Love’s gift cards to several of the store’s customers in the surprise celebration of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Oklahoma City community.
