Chamber member and international nonprofit, Water4, will host Walk4Water4 at downtown Oklahoma City’s Scissortail Park on October 1.
The event is being held to raise awareness of the need for safe water access across the globe and aims to raise $505,000 to be used in providing over 18,000 people in Sub-Saharan Africa with access to safe water.
The family-friendly, and pet-friendly, three-mile walk will provide its estimated 400 participants with an exercise that represents the daily task endured by billions when walking to collect water.
“Walk4Water4 is a chance to join in a walk similar to what mothers and girls make each day around the world. Carry physical water like they do and be inspired to end the biggest problem facing billions in the world every single day,” Water4 President and CEO, Matt Hangen said.
“Come experience their challenges and be a part of the solution.”
The event will also include children’s activities like a bounce house, live music, and food trucks. Sound Advyce and Monyawi Global Music from Monroe Elementary School are both listed as anticipated performances.
Fellow Chamber member, Simple Modern and the Jasco Giving Hope Foundation are the event’s presenting sponsors.
“Water4 is one of Simple Modern’s core giving partnerships,” Simple Modern CEO, Mike Beckham said.
“I personally appreciate the way they are serving people, both physically and spiritually. They represent all of the best aspects of a nonprofit organization.”
The faith-based nonprofit, established in 2008, is noted in having impacted nearly 2 million people around the world by providing safe water, alongside its partners.
Although the walk is open to the public, registration is required. Participants are encouraged to help raise funds for the cause, as well. You can find more information on the Walk4Water4 event, and register, here.
