Ways startups can establish their credibility and authority

One of the biggest challenges you face as an entrepreneur is establishing the credibility and trustworthiness of your startup and its brand. The average modern consumer is discerning and careful, always on the lookout for possible scams. Fortunately there is a lot you can do to help alleviate their concerns. Here are five ways you can establish your startup's credibility:

Get Some Social Proof

One of the biggest issues a new brand has is not having history behind it. That can make it difficult for people to put their trust in your startup, no matter how beneficial your product may be. That is why it is critical to try and get as much social proof as possible, as quickly as possible. You want as many testimonials and reviews as you can get from your customers, and you want to put those proofs on your website and social media. The more social proof you have, the more credible your small business will look.

Create a Podcast

Hosting a podcast is a fantastic way to develop not just your startup's credibility, but your personal brand as well. Many people listen to podcasts while doing other tasks, making it a great way to reach your audience. The content of your podcast should revolve around your industry. You can talk about current events, pull the curtain back and tell your audience how the sausage is made, or even interview big personalities and trusted experts in your field. The sky is the limit.

Hire a Professional Website Designer

If you want your small business to seem credible, you need to look the part. While your social media accounts are where you will likely make first contact, it is your website where you will close the deal and make sales. That is why it is critical that your website looks as professional as possible. Gone are the days when you could get away with websites that looked like they belong in Angelfire or Geocities. You need a website that is visually appealing and easy to navigate. The smoother the experience is, the better off your startup will be.

Additionally, you should ensure that your brand looks professional as well. Hiring a graphic designer and professional brand creators may be expensive, but it will help your small business in the long run.

Create Partnerships with Related Businesses

Sometimes, the best way to develop your company's credibility is to lean on the credibility of another entity. That is why creating partnerships with related businesses is almost always a smart plan. For example, choosing a well-known manufacturer can help lend your brand some credibility, especially if you promote that on your social media sites. You can also have authorities, such as experts in your field or influencers who have sway in your target market, participate in your marketing campaigns.

Create a Business Blog

Content marketing remains a powerful way to generate leads, but many entrepreneurs forget that it can also be used to develop your small business's credibility. Creating a business blog that focuses on highlighting the knowledge you and your team have can help establish that your small business and its offering are worth taking a perceived risk on.

There are a few pieces of content that can help. You can create content that specifically shows off how the company's offering can solve a problem your target audience has. Additionally, you can write articles or have a graphic designer create an infographic showing off data related to your audience. You could even use the business blog as a place to show off testimonials from happy customers.

While those are far from the only things you can do to improve your startup's credibility, they should get you off to a good start. There is no real way to measure your small business's credibility as even surveys can only tell you so much, which can make it feel like your efforts are going nowhere. Resist the urge to stop developing your credibility. Without it, your startup cannot succeed.
