OKC to launch smartphone app for on-street parking in metered spaces

The app, which will now begin development and does not yet have a name, will let users pay for the City’s metered on-street parking spaces in the downtown area on the spot with their phone. The street-side meters that take coins and credit or debit cards will also remain in use.

EMBARK's streetcar and bus pass sale begins, other festivities this month

On the weekends, as part of Downtown In December celebrations, residents can ride the OKC Streetcar for free. The offer runs until Jan. 5. In Norman, residents can also ride the city’s bus for free as they get used to the services offered by EMBARK, which is now operating Norman’s fixed-route bus service and para transit service.

OKC receives $14.3 million grant for bus rapid transit

Last month, Sen. Jim Inhofe announced that Oklahoma City is a recipient of a $14.3 million federal BUILD grant to implement bus rapid transit (BRT) along Northwest Expressway and North Classen Boulevard. The funds will help connect businesses and residents near the eight-mile segment to the core of Oklahoma City, including other EMBARK routes and the newly opened Oklahoma City Streetcar.
