OKC metro unemployment at 2.8% in May

The Oklahoma City metro area posted a preliminary unemployment rate of 2.8% in May, up from a revised 2.4% in April. Despite the monthly increase, the metro continues a 46-month streak of unemployment below 4%, the longest such run in the city’s modern history.

Unemployment in the Oklahoma City metro area remained low through the early months of 2025, with slight increases in January and February. Despite the month-to-month changes, the area continued its streak of unemployment below 4%, a sign of ongoing labor market stability both locally and across much of the state.

OKANA ribbon cutting marks a transformative investment in OKC’s economic future

Oklahoma City officially opened the OKANA Resort and Indoor Waterpark with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking a major milestone for the city’s tourism industry and the Chickasaw Nation’s economic development efforts. The $400 million development in the Horizons District, next to the First Americans Museum (FAM), is the largest commercial investment in Oklahoma City history.
