If you have not taken a tour of Bricktown on one of our city’s well-loved water taxis, add it to your 2021 summer bucket list. Better yet, get a ticket for one of their Thursday night showboat concert series events to enjoy an exclusive experience with a local musician.

No matter your age, there are few team experiences quite like rowing, dragon boating and whitewater rafting. Not only do you learn about teamwork, accomplishing goals and camaraderie, but there’s just something about the power of a paddle or oar in your hand to connect you with both the water and your teammates that’s hard to replicate in other sports or disciplines (not to mention it’s good to have something in hand with which to defend yourself from any angry errant geese that cross your path, but maybe that’s just us).
From large concerts to small impromptu music events, there’s live music to enjoy all over OKC throughout the month of June. Here’s a rundown of some of this month’s opportunities to enjoy in-person tunes.
Booker T. Washington Park at N.E. Fourth St. and N. High Ave. will be the site for the sixth annual oNE OKC street festival, an event designed to engage the local community and attract people from throughout the OKC metro to visit northeast OKC. This year’s event will take place on May 15 from noon to 4 p.m.
For decades, few talked about one of the largest historical events of racial violence in our country’s history, the Tulsa Race Massacre. Now, 100 years after the event, through a groundbreaking healing approach, a group of artists are reclaiming Black Wall Street with a project known as Fire in Little Africa.
It’s safe to say that live music and performances have been sorely missed over the past year. Never fear -- several OKC venues and hot spots are slowly and safely rolling out the music.
Saturdays at Scissortail Park will soon be filled with local food producers and artisans as the OSU-OKC Farmers Market kicks off at 9 a.m. on April 3.
