The Frost Yourself event, sponsored by Greater OKC Chamber members Paycom Software and Cox Communications took place last week at fellow Chamber member Naifeh Fine Jewelry in Nichols Hills Plaza. The event raised over $65,000 for ReMerge, a local nonprofit focused on rehabilitating mothers facing nonviolent felony charges in Oklahoma County, also a Chamber member.
Chamber member Paycom Software, a leading provider of comprehensive, cloud-based human capital management software, presented a $30,000 check to fellow Chamber member Water4, an Oklahoma City-based international nonprofit dedicated to eradicating the world’s water crisis through local, missional businesses.
Chamber members Dell Technologies OKC and the OKC Thunder have teamed up to host a free computer recycling event, open to the public, Friday, April 29th and Saturday, April 30th from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Dell Technologies facility in the parking lot at 3501 SW 15th Street, Oklahoma City (located near the intersection of 1-40 and 1-44).
Extreme Racing for Charity returns to Remington Park bringing camels, pigs, Clydesdales, ostriches and zebras to Remington Park Sunday, April 24 for an afternoon of unusual experiences and the chance for metro area families to help raise money for nonprofit organizations across Oklahoma.
Following recommendations of the Vera Institute for Justice in 2015, the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber began working with city and county leaders to solve overcrowding problems at the Oklahoma County Detention Center. Today, overcrowding has continued trending downward, thanks in large part to diversion programs created or adopted in Oklahoma City.
“Clara Luper’s courage and leadership helped shape the civil rights movement in both our state and country,” said Chad Richison, founder of the Richison Family Foundation and Paycom. “Mrs. Luper’s story and message will be amplified for Oklahomans and visitors through the creation of this plaza. We’re grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this meaningful project.”
Greater OKC Chamber member Nominee Design and Supergiant announce the second year of The Impact Grant – a social good branding grant that provides a deserving Oklahoma nonprofit focused on areas of social justice and/or sustainability living with pro-bono brand services. The team has built inspiring brands for startups, organizations and creative entrepreneurs around the country.
Giraffes at the Oklahoma City Zoo, along with its many other animals native to Africa, will enjoy a newly renovated home in the near future as work progresses on $25 million Expedition Africa project, the largest habitat expansion in the zoo’s 120-year history.
