Education leaders from various levels of instruction in Oklahoma will be sharing their thoughts and insights about the status of the state’s education system during the annual State of the Schools event scheduled for Aug. 11 at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Along with other positions, the Foundation for Oklahoma City Public Schools recently announced the appointment of Claudia San Pedro as chair of its board of directors. San Pedro has served as both treasurer and vice chair since joining the board in 2010.

The 2021 Welcome Guide is now available and is packed with information for Oklahoma City’s newest residents. There are sections loaded with detail about the city’s history, neighborhoods, schools, climate and weather, the economy and, of course, what to do and where to go for fun.
As part of the ReadOKC goal to improve access to reading materials, the book bus will travel to all OKCPS elementary, middle and high school sites as well as community centers and events during the 2021-22 school year.
This week, OG&E recognized three high school seniors as its 2021 OG&E Positive Energy Scholars. Each Positive Energy Scholar will receive $15,000 per year, which is renewable annually for up to four years, or a total of $60,000 to cover tuition, books, fees and on-campus room and board.
The Foundation for Oklahoma City Public Schools and Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) have named McKenzie Hodge as the Oklahoma City Public Schools Teacher of the Year. The winner was announced during last week’s Stars of Education virtual event.
