Construction is under way on Scissortail Park’s 30-acre Lower Park in the heart of Oklahoma City, as civic leaders broke ground on the project Friday.
While today the Oklahoma River is an international hub for water sports, the river's importance to OKC stretches back to the city's founding.
Once again coming to you safely outdoors from Kerr Park, we discuss Convention Center construction, Scissortail Park’s birthday, possible Cox Center conversion/growing film & TV production in OKC, how the OKC Memorial Marathon will work in the upcoming days, the new Surf OKC facility, day/road trip options around OK and more.
The park, a crown jewel of Oklahoma City’s MAPS 3 program, earned national and regional engineering awards this month.
The designs for the final 30 acres of Scissortail Park are being reviewed. The lower park will open in spring 2022.
OKC’s conservative budgeting has resulted in extra MAPS funds.
“The seeds of our recovery have already been planted through the passage of MAPS 4," said Mayor David Holt.
