Infrastructure improving thanks to Better Streets, Safer City work

Street resurfacing, trails construction and resurfacing, sidewalk and bike lane construction are being funded by the 10-year bond and a $240 million temporary sales tax. Within the sales tax portion, Wenger said the city has completed about $35 million in street resurfacing, with another $50 million already in work expected to start in the next several months.

Better Streets, Safer City public safety update

The City Council is using Better Streets, Safer City funds to pay for hiring 129 additional police officers, and hiring 57 more firefighters to staff two additional fire stations as well as bring an idled fire engine back into service.
