You can escape the heat on Wednesday by seeing the classic comedy movie, “Three Amigos!” at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. There are competitions to be seen nearly every day this week, with professional baseball and soccer games starting Tuesday and thoroughbred racing returning to Remington Park on Friday. On Sunday, take your dog to Remington Park for the annual Remington Bark event.

This is the last week to see Hamilton in Oklahoma City, so make sure you’re in the room where it happens. But there’s more history to learn, with a Mysteries at the Mansion tour on Thursday and a viewing of the “Woodstock” documentary at Myriad Gardens on Friday. Kids can see and feel their favorite construction and service vehicles on Saturday at Dolese’s annual Rock the Block party.
Baseball, balloons, beaches, banjos and a Broadway show are a few things on this week’s calendar. There are plenty of events at which to try new cocktails as well, with the Girls Scouts of Western Oklahoma hosting their annual Cookies & Cocktails event on Aug. 8 and river cruises being offered Friday and Saturday evenings. Also this weekend, Citizen Potawatomi Nation hosts a hot air balloon festival at its headquarters in Shawnee.
RIVERSPORT starts its whitewater rafting league on Aug. 17. Experience is not needed to compete.
RIVERSPORT's free Floating Films continue every Saturday until August 31.
Don’t throw away your shot! The hit Broadway musical Hamilton debuts at the Civic Center on Tuesday, there’s an art walk on Friday in the Paseo District and plenty more on this week’s OKC calendar. On Saturday, you can either check out the cat video festival or watch the metro’s professional soccer team battle it out at Taft Stadium. Like we’ve said before, we have attractions to appease all tastes.
