Leadership Notes: OKC is back to business
I am not sure there is another major metro that is bouncing out of the pandemic with as much energy and enthusiasm as we are right here.

If you have ever wanted to go whitewater rafting, kayaking or tubing but thought you had to travel to Arizona, Colorado or Wyoming to do it, think again! Right here in Oklahoma City is one of the top whitewater rapids facilities in the nation, and you won’t have to spend a whole lot of cash or time to get there.
More people in the Oklahoma City metro are venturing outside this summer, particularly as the pandemic’s severity lessens and pent-up demand for outdoor activities rises. One local outdoor attraction that has been the beneficiary of this uptick in activity is RIVERSPORT OKC.
It’s a “get out on the water” theme for The Better Life OKC this week. With a location fairly equidistant from both the east and west coasts and one and a half states between us and the Gulf of Mexico, you may be surprised to know how much OKC residents appreciate their water-related activities.
No matter your age, there are few team experiences quite like rowing, dragon boating and whitewater rafting. Not only do you learn about teamwork, accomplishing goals and camaraderie, but there’s just something about the power of a paddle or oar in your hand to connect you with both the water and your teammates that’s hard to replicate in other sports or disciplines (not to mention it’s good to have something in hand with which to defend yourself from any angry errant geese that cross your path, but maybe that’s just us).
If you have yet to experience this unique attraction in Oklahoma City, then it may be time for you to make that trip over to the Boathouse District and see for yourself why RIVERSPORT Adventure Park is one of the top attractions in the region.
Bar K will sit on three acres adjacent to the Oklahoma River and will provide dog lovers and canines alike with a one-of-a-kind experience. Greater OKC Chamber members Rose Rock Development Partners and Pivot Project are co-developing the project.
VisitOKC VP of Destination Marketing Lindsay Vidrine joins us to tell us about The Modern Frontier campaign and the new branded beer and future plans. We also talk about the First Americans Museum’s upcoming fall opening, the OKC Dodgers’ and Energy FC’s in-person plans and schedules, election info for April 6, and RIVERSPORT’s opening plans.
